How Parks Radar™ works

Parks Radar reads each park's sourced crowd, hours and live waits and rates each day by how busy it will be, relative to that park's own normal. Green is a comfortable day, yellow is busy, and red means near the park's capacity.

Ratings and hours are forecasts, not official figures. Always confirm on the official park site.

Free packing guide

The realistic family theme park packing checklist

Built for two parents taking children anywhere from newborn through age 17. Pack the shared family kit once, then add only the module for each child's actual age -- not every item on this page.

Shared family kit

Carry on each parent

  • Phone
  • Photo ID
  • Payment card plus a little cash
  • Park tickets or passes downloaded to both phones
  • Car key secured in a zippered pocket
  • Portable phone charger and short cable
  • Sunglasses
  • Refillable water bottle
  • Any essential medication
  • One parent carries the primary bag; the other carries a small emergency pouch

Health, weather and comfort

  • Broad-spectrum SPF 30-50 sunscreen
  • Lip balm with SPF
  • Hats
  • Cooling towels or small permitted fans
  • Lightweight rain ponchos
  • Light layers for cold indoor attractions or evening weather
  • Hand sanitizer
  • Travel tissues
  • Wet wipes
  • Adhesive bandages, blister pads, antiseptic wipes
  • Children's pain reliever with the correct dosing device
  • Antihistamine appropriate for each child, if normally used
  • Motion-sickness supplies for susceptible family members
  • Prescription medication in labeled containers
  • EpiPens, inhalers or other emergency medication
  • Menstrual products
  • Disposable emesis bags
  • Several zip-top bags for wet clothes, trash and protected electronics

Do not leave temperature-sensitive medication in a hot stroller. Ask the park about first aid, refrigeration and medical-item exceptions.

Food and hydration

Subject to the park's outside-food rules:

  • Refillable water bottles · electrolyte packets
  • Familiar, non-melting snacks · protein snacks · crackers or dry cereal
  • Fruit pouches for younger children
  • Food required for allergies, sensory needs or medical conditions
  • Reusable straws if needed · bib or eating cover for younger children
  • Allergy information card

Avoid glass containers and foods that become unsafe after hours in the heat.

Identification and separation plan

  • Current photo of every child taken that morning
  • Parent phone number on a wristband, card or inside the child's clothing
  • Designated family meeting point
  • Children taught to approach a uniformed employee, not wander looking for you
  • Older children's phones fully charged with location sharing configured
  • Written list of medications, allergies and emergency contacts
  • Bright or distinctive clothing for younger children

Do not place the child's full name visibly on the outside of their clothing.

Stroller setup for children 0-5

  • Confirm the stroller meets the park's size rules
  • Rain cover
  • Clip-on fan only if it has protected blades
  • Distinctive ribbon or tag for stroller parking
  • Removable valuables pouch
  • Small blanket
  • Change-of-clothes bag
  • Diaper/changing kit

No loose valuables left in the stroller. No heavy bags hanging from the handle where they can tip it. Never cover the stroller completely with a blanket in hot weather. A double stroller is usually appropriate when managing two stroller-age children -- even capable four- or five-year-olds may struggle with a full day of several miles.

One compact bathroom kit

Keep this in an outer pocket:

  • 4-8 diapers or pull-ups, adjusted for the day
  • Travel wipes
  • Folding changing pad
  • Diaper cream
  • Disposable bags
  • Spare underwear
  • One child outfit
  • Parent spare shirt
  • Portable toilet-seat cover or folding seat if needed
  • Hand sanitizer

Keep additional diapers and clothing in the car or a locker rather than carrying the entire reserve.

Sensory and disability module

Add whenever needed, regardless of age:

  • Noise-reducing headphones · sunglasses or visor
  • Communication board or AAC device, plus charger and protective case
  • Chew-safe sensory item or fidget · familiar comfort object
  • Safe-food supply
  • Visual schedule
  • Medical documentation where helpful
  • Mobility equipment
  • Cooling supplies
  • Disability-access information saved offline
  • Plan for quiet areas and decompression breaks

Leave in the car or a park locker

  • Complete outfit for each young child · spare parent clothing
  • Extra diapers and wipes · extra snacks and water
  • Towels · dry shoes and socks
  • Larger first-aid supply · blanket · additional rain gear · after-sun care
  • Cooler, if permitted
  • Pajamas for children likely to fall asleep during the ride home

Usually leave at home

Unless the specific park expressly permits them:

  • Glass containers · weapons or defensive sprays
  • Large coolers · alcohol · loose ice
  • Wagons or oversized strollers · selfie sticks · drones
  • Folding chairs · hard-sided bulky containers
  • Unnecessary valuables · large toys
  • Full-size diaper packages · too many "just in case" clothes

The true minimum viable park bag

For a family without diapers or special medical needs:

  • Tickets, IDs and payment · phones and charger
  • Water · sunscreen · hats · ponchos
  • Essential medication · snacks
  • Wipes and sanitizer · bandages and blister pads
  • One zip bag · child identification and reunion plan

For children five and under, add the stroller, bathroom kit, spare clothes and comfort item. For infants, feeding and diapering supplies are non-negotiable. Always verify the specific park's bag, stroller, cooler, food and medication policies before leaving.
